Space Invaders became a cultural phenomenon on its initial release in 1978, going on to gross the previously unheard of sum of $2 billion within 4 years. Queues formed in arcades as young men, teenagers and children all waited for their turn at the game.

Even now, retro gaming freaks, cultural historians and even hipsters openly covet an original arcade cabinet containing the hallowed groundbreaker. Apart from being quite rare, they are also extremely expensive and very bulky to boot.
