This best selling furry friend just got even friendlier.....This is the latest, third edition of this amazing virtual pet.

Gupi III is now slightly smaller (22cm long), has 4 mood states, including baby and happy, has 4 extra features including sneezing and breaking wind, and has edge detection when moving around. It also has even more realistic fur, and a longer battery life for more playtime.

Guinea pigs are the perfect pet for small children but as the pet of choice for a fully grown adult, they make little sense.

Number one, they're useless at guarding your home, preferring to scurry away into a little nook or cranny, rather than face down an intruder with a terrifying snarl. Number two, they're more likely to hide inside a slipper than fetch it for you. And finally, number three, you can't take them for walks without them finding some small hole in a fence and disappearing through it, never to be seen again.

So, now we've successfully argued the case for not owning a guinea pig, why are we extolling the virtues of one on this very website. Well, for a kick off, the Gupi is a robot guinea pig, so you have none of the messy by-products of standard guineas to deal with and you won't have to deal with the heart-wrenching ordeal of burying him in the back garden in a box marked ﾑSchnukums' when faced with his inevitable demise.

Instead, you have a loyal pal, who'll follow you round by virtue of a laser pointer hidden in his carrot - he uses this for food also, pop it in his mouth and you'll give him a quick life-affirming charge.

He does, however, exhibit the moods of a standard pet, running over when you call him if he's happy or running away from sounds when he's scared. Introduce him to another Gupi and they'll gradually adapt to each other, interacting merrily as they go. So, then, no mess, no fuss. The perfect furry pal.

WOW! I love this thing it sounds great so I'm getting my boyfriend one for Christmas, seeing as he wanted another guinea pig but has nowhere to put a real one!

Very cute and fun. Maybe I can get him to keep my guineas in line... But real guinea pigs are actually great pets! (And I'm a "fully grown adult".) There are a lot of misconceptions about them.

Wow! I'm getting a gupi in 6 weeks and I'm preparing a bed, lead, collar, backpack etc. for it already! I'm going to call mine Gypsi and I really really can't wait! If you want your kids to be really really excited, tell them that at home there's a new family member waiting at home, and they will melt when they see this little fellows, I should know, I can't wait!!!

I really can't wait I’m getting a Gupi in 3 days and no mess! Yippee! You see I’m selling my rabbit Lickey, so I just want a pettish thing with no mess and hassle, so Gupi is a fun, cute and cuddly thing. PERFECT thanx so much xoxoxo
