There was a time when tagging, or graffiti as they used to call it, was frowned upon. These days of course, the gentle art of spray-painting a wall or public amenity is welcomed with open arms and is encouraged by local and national government alike. But it wasn't always like this.

Decades ago taggers broke into train yards and used their finely honed skills to decorate train carriages with delightful bright, breezy works of contemporary art, while dodging the police and security officials that continually persecuted them.
