Q: Is storing my DNA dangerous?
A: Absolutely not. CAT Gee is just a fun kit and is totally safe in every way. Although your stored DNA can be used to create your genetic profile if you choose to join Club CAT Gee, it cannot be used to create a clone of you. So no “Boys from Brazil” syndrome. Whew.

Q: Could someone clone me if they got hold of my stored DNA?
A: No. The special paper medium does store your DNA safely and kill or neutralise anything else that might damage it, but it is impossible to use DNA collected in this way to create a clone.

Q: Do I have to store my DNA under special conditions?
A: No. The wonder of this product is that once your DNA is on the special paper, you can keep it at home with no extra precautions beyond common sense.

Q: How long will my stored DNA last?
A: CAT Gee's revolutionary technology was invented 11 years ago and is widely used by law enforcement agencies and laboratories across the world. No one knows just how long a sample of DNA stored in this way will last, but it is certainly stable for at least 11 years.

Q: Could the DNA I store be used by some unscrupulous person to implicate me in a crime?
A: Your DNA is present in nearly every cell of your body. For instance, you leave skin cells containing DNA, behind every time you touch a surface such as a glass. If someone wanted to ‘frame' you for a crime, they would be better off pulling out a couple of your hairs (with the roots still attached) and leaving these lying around, since a fragment of CAT Gee paper would only raise suspicion. DNA in human tissue decays very quickly, so the only way to store your DNA long-term, with confidence, is to use CAT Gee.

Q: Can I get genetic tests performed by the people at CAT Gee?
A: No. We at CAT Gee do not run laboratories or offer genetic tests or other services.

Apparently home DNA sampling of loved ones is the new way to show affection. Ok, we`re officially scared. Admittedly though the prospect of getting a T-shirt with a special code generated from your DNA is kinda cool, and that`s exactly what CATgee will be offering in early 2003.
