Fish and aircraft. With the exception of the eponymous flying fish we couldn't come up with anything else which could combine the two. Certainly nothing you could keep in the average semi-detached suburban home anyway.

So imagine our surprise when we came across the Air Swimmers Clown Fish. Because this incredible device looks for all the world like a clown fish. That flies. And if you don't know what a clown fish is, just ask your kids (just don't be surprised when they look at you funny saying "It's Nemo. Duh!").

The Air Swimmer is technically a blimp as the main body of the fish is filled with helium (not included, but easily obtainable from florists, party shops or other purveyors of fun). Once inflated, you can use the supplied remote control to have your fish swim/fly serenely around your house.

Using that perennial technology favourite, infrared, the remote control allows you to adjust the tail fin of the Air Swimmer, which in turn controls the fish's speed, altitude (how high it goes) and direction. The simple and intuitive controls means you will have the fish navigating calmly around your house within minutes.

And as unlikely and paradoxical as a flying clown fish is, this incredible flying device somehow replicates a genuine swimming motion. Even though it is floating in the air. It's a bit of an effort to get your head round so we suggest it's best not to play with the Air Swimmers Clown Fish after drinking for the sake of your sanity.

The inflatable body of the Air Swimmer Clown fish is soft and flexible enough to allow you to fly/swim it around your house without having to worry about causing any damage to your fixtures and fittings. In the event you accidentally swim/fly into a wall, the fish will bounce off harmlessly without denting it, and without hurting itself either.

So if you're looking for something a little less mainstream than the oh, so common indoor helicopter, the Air Swimmers Clown Fish may have just the requisite level of weirdness to satisfy you.
